I agree with Laura, I really taste black beans in this salsa. The recipe with the Pasilla Peppers is worth a try. However, the recipe includes cumin -- which I can usually smell and taste a mile away! So perhaps if I leave that out, it might come close. But the bean flavor is, to me, very distinctive. Just open up a can of black beans and smell them. It's very similar to Salsa Baja. I do know there are blackened tomatoes involved, that much the store manager would admit! |
