HOUGH BAKERY DATE PUDDING

2 cups granulated white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
pinch of salt
1/4 cup milk
vanilla to taste
1/2 lb. dates, chopped
1 cup chopped nuts
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/4 lb. (1/2 cup) butter

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Mix white sugar and eggs together. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt and add alternately with milk, vanilla, dates and nuts to the creamed mixture. Pour in pan.

Mix together 2 cups boiling water, butter, and brown sugar. Pour over batter in pan.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour.
