I have been searching for the Toddle House chocolate pie recipe for years. Our housekeeper in Indianapolis had been the chief "pie baker" for the Toddle House restaurants. Her name was Hattie. As much as my mother begged her for the recipe, she refused to give it to her (this was in the late fifties and early sixties). However, she would make them for us. Mother would purchase the ingredients and try, try, try to watch her making them. Hattie would shoo her out. The only thing that mother could glean was the basic ingredient - hershey bars. The crust was also a carefully guarded secret.
