i was so sad when Applebee's stopped selling that? i would love to know why!!! everyone I know loved that stuff! anyway, I decided to try to make something like it, and through trial and error(s) came up with something very similar, but a little less spicy! and with shrimp instead of blackened chicken.

Whoever posted the real recipe, though, thank you!!! i have been dying to find the original recipe and greatly appreciate it!

CREAMY JAMBALAYA PASTA

1/2 pound of fresh shrimp (you can keep or lose the tails, but they look better with the tails!)
lemon juice
1 package penne pasta or linguine, uncooked
1 link of "Farmland" original smoked sausage or kielbasa if you don't mind a little more spice. (I have tried other brands and they just don't work too great with this recipe!)
butter
1/4 of an onion, sliced
cooking oil
Tony Chacheros all seasoning spice
Ground black pepper
1 Tbsp liquid smoke, preferably mesquite flavor
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional...for those who like it spicy)
1 jar Ragu parmesan Alfredo sauce
parmesan cheese (optional)

In a large pot, boil water with a little cooking oil, so pasta doesn't stick together.

After the shrimp have been cleaned and deveined, place them in about 6 Tbsp lemon juice in a bowl big enough that each of them are touching the bottom. Put this in the fridge.

Add pasta to boiling water, stirring frequently.

Slice the smoked sausage and fry it in a large pan on medium heat, turning frequently.

In about 1 Tbsp butter in a small pan, cook the onions until they are very tender and remove them from the heat.

Turn the shrimp to the other side in the fridge.

Keep stirring the pasta and sausage. Once the sausage has been slightly blackened on each side (not burned!) turn the heat to low to keep it warm.

In a medium frying pan, heat 3-4 Tbsp cooking oil and add desired amount of Tony Chacheros seasoning and pepper (I usually add about 1/2 tsp of the seasoning and about 1/8 of pepper). Once oil is hot, add the shrimp, frying for about 2 minutes on each side, or until done. You may want to add a little more seasoning while frying. Turn on low heat to keep warm. (You want to cook the shrimp last because they will get tough if you leave them on low heat for a long time)

Once pasta is done, drain and add Alfredo sauce, liquid smoke, cayenne (optional), desired amount of pepper, and cooked onion. Stir well.

Spoon pasta onto plates, top with parmesan (optional). Decorate pasta bed with sausage and shrimp and serve!
