Apple pie without the crust making? Haven't made this one.-Micha

Apple Bars

1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
6 Tablespoons margarine or butter
2 eggs
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups peeled, diced apples
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350. Mix flour and sugar. Cut in margarine until crumbly. Press into an 8" square pan that has been sprayed with nonstick baking spray. Bake in 350 oven for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Beat eggs until thick. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, apples and nuts, if using. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.Stir into egg mixture. Spread over baked crust. Return to oven and bake 30 minutes longer or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
