This is one of the best methods to cook a chicken, the only way to go on a BBQ!

Take 1 whole chicken, rinse, salt and pepper to preference. Take 1 12oz. can of beer, we prefer the taste of Coors Light for ours, and drink:) or pour out 1/3 of the can. Sit your chicken on the can, legs down (he will slide right over the can easily). Set this on a bread pan on the BBQ, it will stand nicely on it's own. Cook a little over an hour(on a gas BBQ)and test with thermometer for doneness. Be careful removing the bird as the beer, can and pan are all hot! Pull out the can and carve, this will be the moistest chicken you ever ate, with the flavor of outdoor grilling and a nice taste from the beer. I have used wine with herbs also, in a pop can and this is great also. The chicken is self basted this way, no need to even worry about it!!
