You were right...they didn't dry at all!

I just got a new "recipe" for them, and it's much better, IMHO. No oil at all, and they dry nicely! I'm still tweeking the recipe a bit, but here it is...

Equal parts baking soda and citric acid. A little vodka (yes, vodka!) and essential oil...

That's all there is to it. I was given this by a clerk at the natural foods store. He makes those giant bath bombs with this recipe.

You only dribble the littlest possible amount of vodka in. Vodka will evaporate but won't leave any smell. I think regular alcohol would smell yucky in this... Once you add the liquid, you must act quickly! It fizzes and sets up fast.

And, Citric acid fizzes MUCH!!!!! more than the fruit fresh. Also, it's a lot cheaper. I found it at the health food store. Sold either in bottles or in the bulk section. About 40 - 50 cents per ounce. I won't go back to Fruit Fresh again!

I hope my ramblings make sense! If not, just let me know!

Yours fizzy,

Leslie :)

My first batch turned out looking like cookies. Too much liquid. Next batch will hopefully be better. These dry rock hard, too!
