Here is a great soft white bread recipe that I have found with nice crust all the time.

Soft White Bread - 2 lb. loaf

1-1/8 C water
3 C bread flour
2 TBS butter
2 tsp salt
2 TBS sugar
1-1/2 TBS dry milk powder
3 tsp yeast

Put it in bread pan in order recommended by the manufacturer.

I have altered it with spices and cheese with good results. I have found it to work well so if I see an altered white bread recipe in a book (like herb bread or cheese bread) I just substitute my recipe.

Also, a word of encouragement: A lightbulb finally went off in my head last month that said "I GET IT". You get to know your machine and recipes variations. All bread machines are not the same and Bread Machine Magic (a book) was recommended to me and I recommend it to you. It explains a lot. Some machines need more water, less yeast, etc. Also, even yeast brands vary on amounts needed. Not to confuse you too much, sorry. Honestly, it will come naturally in a few months. Also, they say not to let your bread sit in the pan after it cooks or it will get soggy. I let it sit to soften the crust. To each their own. Good luck
