Last night I made up my usual pizza dough (real easy recipe if anyone wants it) and doubled the recipe. My husband like the pizza pockets that I make, and I thought this time I might make bread sticks with the other half of the dough. I tried it this way, and it turned out VERY close to Little Caesars Bread Sticks
Make up the dough as usual. Put it in greased bowl turning once to coat. Cover and allow to rise 1 1/2 hours or til double. I then punched it down, separated it in half. One half I made my pockets out of and place on a pan to rise a little. (not real long) The other half, I rolled out as if to make a pizza. Took a wet knife (keep a cup of water around to dip knife in often) and cut into 1/2 inch wide strips. Then I cut those strips into halves. Instead of letting them rise, I went ahead and sprayed them with a spray butter (less fat and just as good) and garlic salted them, and put them in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. When they came out of the oven, I sprayed them again with butter, and garlic salted them again (the second garlic salt is not necessary, but my husband loves the garlic flavor). I used Prego Tomato Parmesan sauce to dip it in. Hope you enjoy. |
