Deanne, I was shown this method a few years ago by a lady who made beautiful buns. "Lightly" oil a counter top. Cut off pieces of dough - remember that the dough will again rise so make the pieces of dough smaller than the finished product. Place dough in palm of your hand, cup fingers (as if trying to hold water)(boy this is hard to explain!!). Invert on counter top and make circles on the lightly oiled surface. I find clockwise circles easier (my preference). The dough should roll inside your cupped hand and form perfect balls within 20 seconds or sooner. Practise awhile - makes uniform buns.
