Remember the Ann Page raisin spice bar in the A&P stores? I discovered quite by accident some years ago that the recipe for HERMIT COOKIES is pretty much identical. Instead of making cookies, I doubled the recipe and baked in in a bread pan, and made a frosting of powdered sugar, margarine, and a bit of milk. You could make this in a jelly roll pan, too, if you'd rather, and then cut it into bars when you're serving it. |
