Cha - sounds to me like they are using a 'batter bread' recipe and doing it as rolls. Check out the bread board here (on the TKL home page) and they should have some recipes for batter breads ... and perhaps they'll have one that sounds like it has some of the ingredients in the ones you ate. Maybe egg (the yellow). A batter bread is made with yeast -- but is easier for the non-baker as you do not have to shape or knead or stuff like that. And it is done more quickly too. I would think you could take any 'batter yeast bread' recipe that appeals to youand stir it up and then drop by spoonsful into greased muffin cups and let rise and bake. Bake, less time than a loaf ....check other recipes for average amount of time for smaller portions. Sounds good.
