Chocolate - Tipped Butter Cookies 1 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 2 cups all-purpose flour 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, melted 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts ( optional )
Beat the butter at medium speed until smooth ; gradually add the sugar, beating until fluffy. Stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour. Dough shouldn't be too sticky, if it is, add a little more flour.
Shape dough into 2 1/2"x1/2" sticks. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten two-thirds of each cookie with the tines of a fork ( dipped in powdered sugar to prevent sticking ) to a 1/4" thickness.
Bake cookies at 350 F. for 12-14 minutes or until cookies are light brown around the edges. Remove cookies from sheets to wire racks ot cool completely. Dip cooled cookies ( smooth end ) in the melted chocolate, then in the chopped nuts if using. Place dipped cookies on waxed paper till set. Warning: these are very addictive!!!!:0) |
