Sour Cream Banana Pudding

2 (3.4oz) pkgs vanilla instant pudding mix
3 cups cold milk
1 (8oz) carton sour cream
1 (12oz) carto frozen whipped topping -- thawed and divided
1 (12oz) box vanilla wafers
6 banana -- sliced

Whisk together pudding mix and milk in a large bowl until thickened. Whisk in sour cream; fold in 4-1/4 cups whipped topping. Layer half each of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding mixture in a 4-qt bowl. Repeat layers. Top with remaining 1 cup whipped topping. Cover and chill.
