The end of the pie story

I made the above pie recipe with excellent results - the scene in the kitchen was pretty colorful as I had two fascinated maids underfoot, eager to help with every step. Trying to explain in Indonesian why you should not overwork a pie crust was a big linguistic challenge. (On the staff, no, I'm not an evil colonialist - people badly need jobs in this country so I have hired a huge domestic staff so that my employees can afford to feed their kids and send them to school).

The other fun part was that I have no real cooking equipment yet because our stuff has not made it to Indonesia from Africa yet. I used my fingers for cutting pastry, and rolled the pie crust out using a bottle of honey.
