A friend of mine in SF emailed me the other day and told me about a dessert he'd had at dinner the night before in a restaurant.....Gingerbread cake in a pool of caramel sauce topped with pumpkin ice cream. I'm determined to serve it as one of my desserts on Christmas.

Does anyone have a good tried recipe for gingerbread cake? I've searched the net and found a recipe for apple cake with caramel sauce so I've got the sauce covered and TKL provided me a recipe for homemade pumpkin ice cream (if I'm ambitious, otherwise I saw Edy's in the store yesterday!). I can find lots of gingerbread recipes, but would rather have one that someone recommends.
