I've been looking for a Sweet Potato Pie recipe like one that was made for years at the Highland Park Cafeteria in Dallas. (The cafeteria has closed now.) The filling was dense, not light and fluffy, and was made with a regular pie crust. There was just something special in it besides your regular pumpkin pie spices -- I just can't put my finger on it. Someone told me the ingredient might be ginger, but that doesn't sound right to me.
Anyone got any ideas? I would appreciate it!
