Kerolyn, the correct spelling you are looking for is 'potica'. My Croatian Grandmothers made this quite often. It seems to be of slavic origins as I know Yugoslavian, Hungarian, Polish, Czeckoslovakian, Slovanian, people all make very close variations of this. Potica is a yellowy sweet bread version that they would make for Easter and other holidays. It would be made into round loaves or braids. Hard cooked eggs would be braided into them at Easter time. Sometimes golden raisins would be added and flavoring of lemon and orange rind would always be in it. I have also had it with anise oil added. Other times it is made into a nut roll made with ground walnuts and honey. I do not have this recipe at hand, but I will look for it as the Holidays are coming up. I will try to get it to you soon. I think I remember seeing one version under 'potica' in the kitchenlink archives.
