Did you read the rest of the messages related to your ISO? Carol in Jarkata also posted a couple. :) She even translated one recipe for me.(Not as close to the one you are looking for, I am afraid.) Anyway, Chris, my fiance told me a good Indonesian layer cake should have at least "20 layers". :) This is a quite expensive cake for common Indonesians people. The poor people make the cakes and sell them to the rich folks who can afford the cakes... Really sad... I remember Chris' mother told me that it cost about $20AUD for one small loaf in Indoesia years ago. Not too sure about the current price now... Anyway, you are lucky to have the oppotunity to enjoy this beautiful cake while you were in Queensland. As for me, I will just wait until Hari Raya (Muslim News Year Festival) to enjoy them. Chris' family usually gets a lot during the holiday.

PS: I think maybe the mixed spice is good enough. But you may want to change a bit according to your taste (or memory!) :)
