2 c pecans, chopped 1 pound orange candy slices, chopped 1 pound dates, chopped 2 cups sugar 1 cup butter or margarine, melted 4 eggs 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon baking soda 3 1/2 cups flour
Dust fruit and nuts with 1/2 cup of the flour. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs 1 at a time beating after each addition. Mix buttermilk and soda. Add flour alternately with the milk. Add the fruit-nut mixture to the batter. Bake in a greased and flour tube or bundt pan at 250 degrees for 2 to 2 1/2 hours until a tester comes out clean.
To glaze the cake mix 1/2 cup orange juice with 1 cup powdered sugar and drizzle over the cake. Leave in the pan for about 30 minutes before removing it fro the pan.
