tried this recipe for high tea this afternoon and it's quite nice. the crumble topping is a bti different from teh normal ones as it has oatmeals and nuts. i guess it's good for health (somewhat)??? ^_^ enjoy.

Amish Friendship Cake

2 cups of starter
2/3 cup oil
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
4 small apples, peeled and sliced

Preheat oven to Gas 4, 350 F, 180 C
Mix together all ingredients except applies, until smooth. Pour half of the batter into a well greased tin (9" x 13"). Cove batter in pan with apple slices. Crumble half of the streusel topping (below) over the apples. Add rest

of batter and top with remaining topping. Bake for 45 - 60 minutes.


Streusel Topping:

1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp cinnamon

Mix well.
