I know Pippa from South Africa was looking for this a while back. Found in my Joy of Pastry cookbook. Filling- 6 oz almond paste 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar pinch of salt 1 large egg -lightly beaten (for chocolate- add 4 oz semisweet chocolate-melted - and 2 additional tbls butter)
Roll out puff pastry dough onto a floured surface. Form a rectangle 8 X 16 inches and about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Cut in half and place one half on a lightly greased baking sheet. Prepare the filling by creaming together the almond past, butter sugar and salt until smooth. Add the melted chocolate and mix well. Place the filling onto the dough and mound in the center leaving a 2 inch border around the edge. Brush the beaten egg around the border and place the other half of the dough over the filling. Place a small bowl over the top of the pastry covering the mound of filling but leaving the 2 inch border. Press the bowl down so to crease the dough but not cut through it. Trim the edge of the dough into a circle following the bowl as a guide but leave the 2 inch border. Drag the knife into the dough up to the rim of the bowl making a crimped design all around the edge. Remove the bowl and cust a small steam vent in the top of the pastry. Glaze the entire surface with the egg. Finish by scoring the mound at the center with a sharp knife following a spiral design. Chill pastry for about 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 min or until well browned. Let cool 30 min before serving.
Hope this is what you needed- sorry it took so long to find..
