I wrote out the recipe and posted it but did not take-I had forgotten the butter so i addendumed it and that took- what a mess. Here is the complete recipe and my apologies.
APPLE STREUSEL SQUARES
STREUSEL- In a med bowl mix with you hands- 3/4 c flour, 3/4 cup chopped nuts (whatever you like), 1/3 c packed brown sugar, 6 tbls butter softened, 2 tsps vanilla and 3/4 tsp cinnamon. Mix till comes together-shape into a ball and put in refrig.
Preheat oven to 375 lightly grease 9 x 13 pan
Prepare crust- In large bowl combine 2 c flour, 1/4 c sugar, 1/4 tsp salt. Cut in 1/2 c cold butter. Blend until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Press into bottom of pan and bake 15 -20 min.
Meanwhile- in a large skiller over med heat- saute 2 lbs of peeled, cored and sliced apples ( I like Granny Smith- but use Delicous or whatever), 1/2 raisins (if you like), 1/3 c packed brown sugar , 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 3 tbls butter. Cook about 15 min or till apples are tender. In a cup, mix 1 tbls cornstarch with 2 tbls lemon juice. Stir into apple mixture till thickened. (should happen quickly). Remove from heat.
Spoon apple mixture over baked crust. Break streusel topping into chunks and scatter over apple mixture.
Bake for 30 min till topping light brown. Cool completely and cut into bars.
When cooled or almost cooled- drizzle over the carmel- with store bought or made ( I have a recipe if you need it- very easy).
Let me know if you try these and if they are IT!
Regards-
