OK, this will be a long shot. i have searched, both online and bookstores, for a French sand cookie called "Sablés" for the longest time! The particular ones i am looking for are fairly good size filled cookies. Inside each cookie are 2-3 large dark (I'd say "black") raisins. (not the regular raisins we see in the market...) I used to get these for $2 AUD in one small cafe on High St.(near Safeway), Armadale, Melbourne, Australia if that helps? As Sablé is "sand" in French so my guess it's a French cookie. However, i know some Italian cafes also amakes Sablés while staying in Melbourne. My husband misses these cookies a lot and I really want to make them for him. I have tried a couple of Sablé recipes, including the ones for pastry crust! None of them turned out the same texture and sweetness... (These are quite sweet.) Thanks for any help and suggestion in advance...
