Hi, Donna! The correct spelling of what you are in search for is tiramisu (lift me up). Here's the recipe from my files, a really gorgeous one.

For 8 servings:

500 grams mascarpone
6 spoons sugar
1 package (about 500grams) savoiardi
3 eggs
about 250 milliliters coffee, strong (if there are children, use decoffeinated)
some rhum (or what you like)
vanilla powder
cocoa powder

Beat well in large bowl egg yolks, vanilla and sugar, then add mascarpone and a spoonful of rhum. In another bowl beat egg whites very stiff (tip: add some lemonjuice drops), add to the mascarpone compound. Soften some savoiardi in coffee, make a layer in a bowl, spread some mascarpone compound above and continue making layers alternated of savoiardi and mascarpone (last layer of mascarpone). Then powder with cocoa powder, bitter. Put in refrigerator. and enjoy it best after 1 day.

I hope you can get mascarpone: if you can't you can try ricotta.
