Banana Split Cake This recipe appeared in Syracuse, NY food section years ago and is very good.
l cup milk, scalded l/4 cup butter l 3/4 cups sugar 4 eggs l tsp. vanilla l 3/4 cup all-purpose flour l tbls. baking powder l/2 tsp. salt
Add butter to hot milk. Set aside. In bowl, mix sugar, eggs and vanilla until creamy. Add dry ingredients and blend one minute. Add milk mixture and beat one minute on low speed. Pour into l4x10x2 pan. Bake 350 degrees 30-35 mins. or until done.
Filling: mix 2 small boxes vanilla instant pudding with 3 cups milk. Blend in 8 ozs. softened cream cheese until smooth. Spread on cooled cake. Drain well 2 (8oz.) cans crushed pineapple and spread on top of pudding. Slice 4 or 5 bananas to cover pineapple. Cover with Cool Whip. Decorate with cherries. Refrigerate.
Note: can use yellow cake mix with good results but the homemade is great.
