SUGAR COOKIES
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioner's sugar 1 c. butter 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. almond extract 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar Mix sugar and butter. Mix in egg and flavorings. Blend dry ingredients, then stir in. Refrigerate 2-3 hours. Roll out to reasonnable thickness, cut, and bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 375 for 7-8 minutes. (Makes about 5 dozen.)
SUGAR COOKIES
1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup butter or margarine 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 3 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt
Cream butter and sugar together well. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt. Roll out thickness of pie crust on lightly floured surface. Cut into 3 inch cookies. Bake in 350F oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
ROLL-OUT SUGAR COOKIES
1 cup sugar 3/4 cup softened margarine 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 2 3/4 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt
Combine margarine and sugar and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla. Add and beat: cup flour, baking powder, and salt. Chill for at least 1 hour. Roll out in small amounts . Bake on greased cookie sheet in 375o oven for 8-10 min.
VARIATIONS: * add 1/2 - 2/3 c M&M's, mimi choc chips, chopped dried fruit, chopped nuts, or mixtures
* use various extracts/essences: lemon, almond, vanilla, rum etc
* remove 1/4 - 1/2 c flour and replace it with unsweetened cocoa powder
* flavour with coffee crystals
* use icings, frostings, glazes
* dip in coloured jello crystals, sugar, minced nuts, chocolate
