i think pat's mom's recipe has two kinds of sugar (light brown and crushed sugar cutes) for "sprinkling" in between the cake batters. however, i am not too sure the amount of sugar (possibly superfine sugar) in the "batter" itself.
i was planning to try that recipe today but looks like it's too late. maybe i will try one of yours instead.
