Hi Marjorie,

I hope one of these recipes will be close to what you're looking for.

Peanut Butter Crinkles
Makes 6 dozen

1 cup margarine
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Sugar, nuts, chocolate kisses, jam or jelly

In bowl with mixer at medium speed beat first 6 ingredients until fluffy. At low speed beat in next 4 ingredients.

Shape in 1 inch balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes or until browned.

Immediately press nuts or candies into cookies, or press with thumb and fill with jam. Cool, store in airtight container.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies (jelly after baking)
About 3 1/2 dozen cookies

1/2 cup peanuts
1/2 cup shortening (margarine)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 1/4 cups self rising flour
Jelly or jam

Mix thoroughly shortening, peanut butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and egg. Blend in flour. Cover and chill.

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in 1/2 cup finely chopped peanuts.

Place about 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet; press thumb deeply into center of each ball.

Bake 7 to 10 minutes or until set but not hard.

Spoon small amount of jelly or jam into each thumbprint.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies (jelly before baking)
Makes 4-5 dozen

2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup margarine, butter or shortening
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cup jelly

Mix together flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside.

Mix together shortening and peanut butter. Add both kinds of sugar; mix well. Add eggs and beat well. Stir flour mixture into peanut butter mixture.

Drop dough from a teaspoon on baking pan. Use thumb and press into middle forming a pocket. Drop a teaspoon of jelly into pocket.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned. Source: Cookbook USA
