I found this recipe the other day in and old bunch of
recipes from my family years ago. My aunt made then every Christmas. The recipe is:

Anise Drop Cookies

Beat together for 1/2 hour:
3 eggs
1 cup sugar

Gradually add:
1 3/4 cups flour
Beat for 15 minutes.

At the very last beat in:
1/2 teaspoon of anise oil*

Refrigerate overnight.

Bake in maderate oven until puffed and brown on a greased cookie sheet.

*Caution: Do not use more than 1/2 teaspoon of the anise oil.

This is the way the recipe was handed down to me. I still have the 3x5 card it was written on over 50 years ago. Hope this works.
