SHORTBREAD COOKIES
2 c. sifted flour 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1 c. butter 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar 1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts large walnuts for decorating
Resift flour with baking powder. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in finely chopped walnuts. Cover and chill. Roll out on lightly floured board to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press a walnut half on each cookie. Bake at 300 degrees for about 20 minutes until edges are very lightly browned. Makes 2 to 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
