POP TARTS

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. Charlie LoPresto's
Flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
jelly

Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Blend in flour, salt and soda. Cover; chill 1 hour.
Heat oven to 300 degrees. Roll dough 1/16-inch thick on
lightly floured cloth. Cut into 3-inch circles or squares.
Fill with 1 tablespoon jelly. Fold dough over filling. Press edges, making finger prints along edges. Bake 8 to 10 minutes on ungreased baking sheet until very light brown. Remove immediately. Cool and freeze in sandwich bags. To serve, toast at 350 degrees for 5 minutes in toaster oven.
