Hi Allyson,

This recipe doesn't have cardamon but maybe you can add a bit and have something similar. - Betsy

Cranberry Nut Swirls
Source: Gooseberry Patch Old-Fashioned Country Cookies

1/2 cup butter -- softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cranberries -- finely ground
1/2 cup walnuts -- finely chopped
1 tablespoon orange peel -- grated
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons milk

Combine the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy.

Combine the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

In a small bowl combine walnuts, cranberries and orange peel.

On a floured surface roll the dough into a 10-inch square.

Combine brown sugar and milk and spread over the dough. Sprinkle with the cranberry mixture and roll up tightly. Wrap with wax paper and chill for several hours.

Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Bake on a well greased cookie sheet at 375F for 14 minutes.
