Banana Cake
1/2 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 cups sifted flour 3/4 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 cup buttermilk 1 cup mashed banana 1 tsp. vanilla 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together butter, sugar and eggs. Sift in dry ingredients. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk and beat until well blended. Add remainder of milk, banana, vanilla and nuts. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
Bake 25 minutes.
Fill layers with whip cream and slice fresh bananas and place around edge, then top with whipped cream and banana slices.
