Sounds like you need more liquid. When I make bread, I always set an extra timer for 15-20 mins. That allows the ingredients to preheat and begin mixing. I then open the lid and check to see if the dough is dry or too wet. I then can add a spoonful of liquid or flour at a time until the dough is just right. Then allow the cycle to finish. Try a lighter setting for your crust or shorten the baking time if you can. You can always just stop the cycle when the bread is done.
I use an instant read thermeter, bread is done at 190 degrees.
