Tricky to do when the cakes are stacked on top of each other. I am always a nervous wreck when I have to do this.

Best method I have found is to lay a damp (not wet) towel in the back of your vehicle (hope you have a van) and place the cake on the towel. The dampness will prevent the cake from sliding or shifting. Drive very slowly and take corners very easy. I usually have someone with me - not sure why - she can't exactly grab the cake if it starts to fall.

So far this has worked for me, this and lots of prayer.
