Hi Judy, I've NEVER made this recipe but it sounds like it might be similar to the one you're asking for. It is one of the 100 finalists in thebooklet from the 31st Pillsbury Bake-Off in 1982. I doubt that Pillsbury still has a Carrot 'n' Spice Cake mix -- but I'm sure a spice cake mix would work well - or adding spices to a plainer mix.

BAVARIAN HONEY SPICE CAKE

3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
2 1/4 ounce package (1 cup) sliced almonds
1 package Pillsbury Plus Carrot 'n' Spice Cake Mix
3/4 cup cool coffee
1/3 cup honey
3 eggs

Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Using 3 tablespoons butter, generously grease 12-cup fluted tube or 10-inch tube pan. Sprinkle and gently press almonds onto greased surface.

In large bowl blend cake mix, coffee, honey and eggs at low speed until moistened. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed. Pour batter evenly into prepared pan.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 50 to 65 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan immediately; invert onto serving plate. Cool completely.
