SUBSTITUTING BABY FOOD FOR OIL IN CAKE RECIPES

I have substituted all types of baby foods in cakes (my oldest son stopped eating them one day right after I'd stocked up!) All will work and you don't notice the flavors at all. The catch is if you are making a white cake that it will tint the cake slightly. I try to use darker foods like carrots in darker cakes like spice and chocolate.

When substituting baby foods use an equal amount to the oil or butter called for in your recipe.

One more thing. Do not try using the baby food meats in your cake. They will taint the flavor, but I never tried a fruit or veggie that we ever noticed a difference in. Good luck with it!
