Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
Mix together sugar, banana, 1/2 cup margarine, eggs, and sour milk.
Combine 2 cups plus 2 tbsp. flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir into creamed mixture just until combined. Stir in the 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Pour in prepared pan.
Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean. This bread freezes well.
TO PREPARE THE STREUSEL TOPPING: Combine the brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, and 1/4 cup chopped nuts. Cut 1/4 cup margarine into sugar mixture.
*Topping can be added to batter before baking. Or topping can be used as a filling for the bread. Pour half of the batter in pan, add streusel, then rest of batter. Bake at 350 degrees oven for 1 hour.
