CHOCOLATE-FILLED AZTEC COOKIES

Makes 20 cookies

1 roll (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1/4 cup cornmeal
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper or 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
20 dark chocolate candies (such as Hershey’s Kisses Rich Dark

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Greased cookie sheets.

Break up cookie dough into a large bowl; let sit 10 minutes to soften.

Meanwhile, unwrap candies, reserve.

Add cornmeal, cinnamon and cayenne or chili powder to cookie dough; mix with hands to blend.

Shape a rounded Tablespoon of dough around each candy, covering completely. Place 2-inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.

Bake 11 to 13 minutes.
