MISS ROSA'S GINGERBREAD
3 cups sifted flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. baking soda 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup shortening, melted 1 cup molasses 2 eggs 1 cup boiling water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 10x10-inch cake pan or Bundt pan.
Sift flour, spices, and baking soda together; set aside.
Stir brown sugar into melted shortening. Add molasses and unbeaten eggs. Beat well. Add sifted ingredients and hot water alternately in small amounts, beating thoroughly after each addition. Pour into greased pan.
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F) for about 25 minutes. Cool in pan.
