Re: Problem solving for Tastey Whole Wheat Bread Recipe Dan, I was on vacation several days and just read of your problem; so sorry the bread didn't rise. If the liquids are too warm, they can kill the yeast; also the age of the yeast is important as it won't raise well or at all if it is too old. (sometimes hard to tell with bulk yeast.) I tend to warm the liquids a little bit, until just barely warm. I've tried to make bread and didn't realize my yeast was too old or that I heated the liquids too much and had similiar results as you. Hope this helps; could have been either as reason for bread not rising. I'll post a soda bread recipe that doesn't require yeast and is wonderful toasted with butter.
