CREAM CHEESE-JAM BISCUITS

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) butter, softened
1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
Various fruit jams (for fillings)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Grease a large baking sheet and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until well blended. In a small mixing bowl, combine butter and cream cheese. Stir until well blended. Add to flour and beat together until you have a smooth well-blended dough.

Transfer dough to a floured work surface and roll into a circle about 1/2-inch thick. Using a floured, 1 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out rounds. Roll scraps together and cut out more rounds. Arrange rounds on prepared baking sheet about 1/2-inch apart.

Using a floured finger, make a small indentation in center of each round, spoon a little jam into each indentation.

Bake in center of oven until golden, about 12 minutes.

Makes 20 to 24 biscuits
