AUNT IDA'S COOKIE SHEET PIE1 egg, separated Milk 2 1/2 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup shortening or lard 5 cups or more cut-up and peeled apples 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons flour Butter Cinnamon FOR THE POWDERED SUGAR FROSTING:1 cup powdered sugar 3 to 4 tablespoons milk Beat egg yolk in a measuring cup, then add enough milk to make 3/4 cup. Mix the 2 1/2 cups flour, salt, shortening, egg yolk and enough milk to make a piecrust. Chill for 30 minutes. Roll out half of crust and put on a cookie sheet or jelly-roll pan. Spread apples over dough. Mix sugar and the 2 tablespoons of flour. Sprinkle over apples. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll out remaining dough and place over apples. Beat egg white and brush over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. While still warm, drizzle with powdered sugar frosting. (To make frosting, mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with 3 to 4 tablespoons milk. Mix until it's a thin frosting or glaze consistency.) Serves 16 to 20 Source: Recipes to Remember
