APPLE-CHERRY PIE

3 cups peeled sliced apples
2 cups (one 10 oz. package) frozen tart cherries, thawed and undrained
1 1/3 cups sugar (or to taste)
3 tablespoons tapioca
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pastry for 2-crust pie
2 tablespoons butter
ice cream (for serving)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine apples with thawed, undrained cherries, sugar, tapioca and cinnamon; let stand while preparing pastry.

Line a 9-inch pie dish with pastry, pile in filling, dot with butter and put on top crust. (A lattice crust is pretty.)

Bake at 350 degrees F or until apples are tender. Serve with ice cream.
