Donna, you don't mention cereal as an ingredient, which I guess you would have done if it was in the recipe. I found this recipe for "cereal cookies". It features even cup amounts for the main ingredients and a large enough amount of coconut to create a primarily coconut-flavored cookie. Maybe this is similar to what you're looking for:

CEREAL COOKIES

1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups oats, uncooked
2 cups corn flakes
2 cups coconut
Nuts, optional

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.

Sift together flour, soda, and baking powder and salt; stir into shortening mixture. Stir in oatmeal, corn flakes, coconut, and nuts, if using. Dough will be stiff. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet. Press with bottom of glass.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes, but do not brown.
