I am trying to duplicate my original starter that was given to me years ago. Unfortunately, this starter of several years was thrown away in error during a move. It sounds like yours. I tried your recipe for Potato Flake Bread starter. After the big bubbles stopped & no more,it sizzled & finally turned gray. Help!

Questions w/ the first step:
Do you stir the starter at anytime during the 1 wk?
What kind of container did you use and is a quart jar big enough? Did you cover w/ lid or cheesecloth or saran.
I have created an area of about 85 degees, to place the starter for this next attempt. Is that acceptable? or to hot? Thank you in advance for your reply. I know I can do this again. Just never had to start the starter.
