This recipe was given to me by my neighbor whose Polish grandmother baked for her family.
It is delicious and very good toasted. I think you will like it.

POLISH SWEET BREAD

8 cups bread flour
5 large eggs
1/4 lb. butter
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3 pkgs. dry yeast
1 teaspoon vanilla

Dissolve yeast in 4 Tablespoons warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar.

Melt butter in scalded milk. Add sugar, salt and vanilla. Stir until dissolved.

Beat eggs until foamy. Stir into cool milk mixture.
Add yeast. Sift flour into milk mixture.

Knead for 10 minutes.

Let rise. Punch down, let rise again.

Punch down and form into 2 regular size loaves and 1 small loaf. Let rise.

Beat 1 large egg and 1 Tablespoon water together. When breads are 1/2 risen brush with egg mixture and Spread the following streusel on top.

STREUSEL:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter
Almond flavoring to taste

Combine ingredients.

Bake bread on center rack of the oven only at 350 degrees for 28 minutes .(They continue to rise while baking)

Note:
I use 3 regular size loaf pans when I bake mine)
