My daughter taught me the trick of putting corn in the freezer, as it comes from the garden. Make sure it is cool, put it in 2 big black plastic bags and put in the freezer. When you want corn, take out the ears you need, let thaw enough to shuck and silk. It is amazing how easy the silks come off. Cook as you like. I boil it on the cob, and if I'm in the mood for nibbets or cream style I thaw out the corn and cut it off the cob. I have left it in the freezer this way for a year and could not tell it from fresh corn from the garden. The one draw back to this is freezer space.
