NEEDLECRAFT FRUIT COOKIES

2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup candied pineapple
1 cup candied cherries
1 cup raisins
1 cup nuts ( pecans or walnuts )

Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk. to the sugar, butter and egg mixture. Chop fruits and nuts and mix well. Combine the fruit mix and the batter mix. Mix well by hand. Drop by spoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes in an oven preset to 325 degrees ( We always add more fruit than recipe calls for )

This recipe has been a family favorite since about 1936. I believe it was published in the Needlecraft Magazine and thus it's name.
